Privacy
Policy for the Suns app and this website · updated 22 October 2026
In short: Suns does not collect any data. Your recordings stay on your device and we never see them.
What we don't do
- There are no accounts and no sign-up with email.
- We have no servers: the app does not send us audio, files, settings or usage data.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking across apps or websites.
Microphone and audio inputs
Suns uses the microphone, or the connected audio interface, only to measure and record, and only when you start it. Files are saved in the app's folder on your device, visible in the Files app.
Recording location (optional)
It is off by default. If you turn it on, at the start of each take Suns reads your location once, to within about 100 metres, and writes it to a text file next to the recording. To look up the name of the place, the coordinates are sent to Apple's maps service, under Apple's privacy policy. You can turn it off at any time in the app's settings or in iOS settings.
When files leave your device
Only if you choose so: by exporting or sharing them with the iOS share sheet, by opening them in the Files app, or through your device backup (iCloud or computer) if you have it turned on. In those cases the rules of the service you choose apply.
Beta versions (TestFlight)
If you test Suns through TestFlight, Apple may share with us the data TestFlight provides, such as the email you signed up with, crash reports and the feedback you send. We use it only to improve the app. See Apple's privacy policy.
Children
Suns does not collect data from anyone, so not from children either.
